KPK Releases Government Institute Integrity

The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has released survey result of Public Services Integrity (PSI) for various central and local Government institutions.
The PSI is defined as “ to gauge the integrity of government institute in conducting its public services by undertaking scientific measurement of corruption and its cause by surveying direct user of those public services”. The score is 1 – 10 with the higher score means better mark.
 
There are 11 perception variables included in the survey which includes bribery, corruption, gratification and the institute attempt to get rid of the dubious practices. KPK surveyed more than 12,500 people who had dealt directly with various level of central and local government agency through direct interview in 22 local, 23 central, and 6 vertical institutes.
For Government institute, the highest mark was achieved by Agricultural Department with index of 7.63, followed closely with Indonesian Investment Board Coordinator (BKPM) with index of 7.53.  The third best institute were achieved by the Indonesian Central bank with also 7.35.
The lowest index was awarded to Transportation Ministry at 4.21 and Fisheries and Oceanic Ministry at 5.03.
Top 10 are as follow
1.       Agricultural Ministry
2.       Investment Board Coordinator (BKPM)
3.       Central Bank
4.       PT KBN (Industrial Zone Authority)
5.       Food and Drug Supervisory Board (BPOM)
6.       Foreign Ministry
7.       PT Sucofindo (inspection company)
8.       Information and Communication Ministry
9.       Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry
10.   Forestry Ministry
While the bottom 5 are as follow
1.       Transmigration and Man Power Ministry
2.       Human Right and Law Ministry
3.       PT Angkasa Pura II (Soekarno-Hatta international airport operator)
4.       Fisheries and Oceanic Ministry
5.       Transportation Ministry
For municipal government, only 2 scored higher than 6 which are Surabaya and Samarinda municipal. Jakarta that divided into 4 municipals of west, east, central and south have all scored lower than 5.5. South Jakarta being the lowest of the four at 4.58.
The lowest score are Medan at 3.66, Bandar Lampung at 4,05 and Palembang at 4.19. (JUP)
