Former Mississippi State football player Kenny Rogers appeared on KESN-FM in Dallas today and dropped the bombshell that Cam Newton’s father, Cecil Newton, asked for money to recruit his son to play at Mississippi State.
Before Thursday, Rogers has reportedly alleged that he solicited money on behalf of the Newton’s to play for the Bulldogs and Dan Mullen. But we can now take off the reportedly with his statements on the radio station via Sports By Brooks.
KESN-FM host Ian Fitzsimmons was interviewing Rogers and asked the question everyone was wondering.
“Did he (Cecil Newton) tell you flat out, ‘this is what it’s going to take for any school to get my son to sign a letter of intent and go play for them?‘”
Rogers: “Yes he did.”
Fitzsimmons: “How much was it?”
Rogers: “Anywhere between a hundred and a hundred and eighty thousand.”
