Austrian Business Targets 13 Projects

The Austrian government confirms that there are at least 13 investments in 13 different projects in Indonesia being considered at the moment. This step is very important for Indonesia whose products are trying to enter Europe market
“There are 13  projects associated with private sector of both countries. I will witness the signing of the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding). The preparation will hopefully be completed ahead of the US President Barack Obama’s visit,” said Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa in Jakarta on Monday.

Hatta said the Austrian President Heinz Fischer will arrive in Jakarta ahead of Obama’s arrival. The visit is to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two countries with The Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The Austrian President then will attend a business forum where the 13 MOUs will be signed.
“The 13 projects will be presented one by one in the morning by our team which include representative from Indonesian business circle. In essence Austrian Government wants its businessman to increase its investment and cooperation in Indonesia. I think this is a great opportunity for us to attract investors from Europe. Especially now when the market in Europe has not completely recovered. We have to make the best of this”, said Hatta.
As reported, Austrian President Heinz Fischer and dozens of Austrian businessmen will be in Indonesia for 3 days from 9 November to 11 November 2010. “This reflects the attractiveness of Indonesia for investment cooperation and trade with Austria,” said Teuku Faizasyah President special staff on international relations, in a press release on Friday night.
Relations between Indonesia and Austria have been well established since 1954. This good relationship, said Faizasyah, adhere to the principle of mutual respect and appreciate. In addition, the cooperation between Indonesia and Austria in the political, economic, social and cultural also growing.
The volume of trade between Indonesia and Austria in 2008 reached USD 393.4 million. However, in 2009, it fell to USD 300.4 million due to the global financial crisis. Austrian investment ranks 35th in Indonesia. Between 1990 and 2009 a cumulative total Austrian investment was about USD 20.60.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and President Heinz Fischer will also signed a memorandum of understanding on increased cooperation in the field of interfaith dialogue.
Other agenda includes wreath laying at  Kalibata Hero Cemetery, visit to the Cathedral and the Istiqlal Mosque, and met with the Chairman of the House of Representatives
