During the 7 days the Grand Tour in Greece lasts, you will visit the main sights of tourism in classical Greece: Olympia, Delphi, Meteora, Thessaloniki and Lefkadia. In these places, we will take you to visit the best museums and the most famous archaeological sites, where you can live and experience all the glory of the classical Greece.
The tour is conducted in English, although in some cases a multilingual guide might be requested. If you want to take your 7-day long Grand Tour in Greece in a different language, you can contact us in advance and we will try our best to make it possible.
The Grand Tour in Greece starts from the city of Athens, the historical capital of Greece. Visits to places of interest in Athens are not included in the 7-day long Grand Tour in Greece. If possible, we recommend you to arrive in Athens a couple of days before, or leave it a couple of days after, in order to be able to explore the capital at your own pace and discover its history as well.
At 8.30 am on the agreed date of start of the 7-day long Grand Tour in Greece, we will pick you up from your hotel in Athens. On our website you can see a list of hotels where our hotel pick-up service is offered. If your hotel is not listed, we have a generic meeting point in front of the Hotel Amalia, near the Syntagma Square. Alternatively, you can choose another hotel from the list that it is near your accommodation upon booking, and meet us at the arranged time in the front door of that place.
The dates of the tour vary, so you should check our calendar and choose the one that best suits your needs and vacation plans.
Once you start your 7-day long Grand Tour in Greece, the itinerary will go as follows:
Day 1: Epidaurus – Mycenae – Olympia (dinner included)
Your first stop will be the Corinth Canal. From there we will go to Epidaurus to visit the archaeological site and the theater, famous for its excellent acoustics. Then we will make a brief stop at Nafplion. From there we will later drive to Mycenae, where we will visit the archaeological site. Then we will depart on our way to Olympia through the central Peloponnese area, passing the cities of Megalopolis and Tripolis.
Day 2: Olympia – Nafpaktos – Delphi (breakfast and dinner included)
In the morning we will visit the archaeological site and museum of Olympia. From there we will drive, via Patras to Rion, crossing the channel to the Antirio through the new suspension bridge. This architectural “state of the art” construction is also considered the longest and most modern bridge in all of Europe. We will spend the afternoon in Nafpaktos,and from there then continue to Delphi, where we will spend the night.
Day 3: Delphi (breakfast and dinner included)
In the morning we will visit the museum and archaeological site of Delphi. The rest of the day will be free. This means you can spend the afternoon the way you prefer: shopping, strolling in the sun or resting in the hotel.
Day 4: Kalambaka – Meteora (breakfast and dinner included)
In the morning we will leave the hotel in Delphi and drive through the Greek towns of central
Amphissa, Lamia and Trikala to finally get to Kalambaka. During the afternoon we will visit Meteora, where the monasteries of the rock’s towers have been designated World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The vision of the monasteries is absolutely breathtaking. At night, dinner and accommodation will take place in Kalambaka.
Day 5: Dion – Thessaloniki (breakfast and dinner included)
Driving through Trikala and Larissa, we will arrive to the famous, sacred Macedonian town of Dion. From there we will continue our tour in Greece towards Thessaloniki, the largest populated center in northern Greece. There we will visit the interesting museum of Thessaloniki and will take a walk with a guided tour of the city.
Day 6: Pella – Vergina – Lefkadia (breakfast and dinner included)
In the morning we will drive to Pella, which was the capital of Alexander the Great. From there we will continue to Vergina, where we will visit the famous “Vergina Treasures” and the tomb of King Philip. Then we will continue journey to Lefkadia, where we will visit the excavations and the Macedonian tombs. We will return to Thessaloniki, passing through Veria. Dinner and the last night of accommodation will be also in Thessaloniki.
Day 7: Tempi Valley – Thermoplyae – Athens (breakfast included)
After breakfast, we will begin the journey back to Athens through the Tempi Valley, as well as passing through Larissa, Lamia and Thermoplyae, where former famous battle that took place, and KamenaVourla. Our returning time to Athens is estimatedfor about 18.30. Then the 7-day long Grand Tour in Greeceends with the arrival at the coach bus terminal known as CHAT.
The total cost of the 7-day long Grand Tour in Greeceis £ 1035.11 or € 1145.67 per adult or young person from 13 years of age in advance. If you book your 7-day long Grand Tour in Greecefor two or more adults of over 13 years of age, the cost is reduced to £ 811.34 or € 898.00 per person. If one or more adults are traveling with a child who is 4 to 12 years of age (inclusive), the child will enjoy a special child fare of £ 403.78 or € 446.91. In either case, babies and toddlers up to 3 years of age (inclusive) travel free accompanied by the adult participants who are responsible for them.
The 7-day long Grand Tour in Greece includes, as already explained, accommodation for the 6 nights of the duration of the tour. Also included are the meals mentioned above, which accounts for half board (breakfast and dinner included during the whole tour). The entrances to museums and archaeological sites mentioned, as well as the hiring of professional guide and local taxes are also included in the cost; and so is the transportation in a coach bus equipped with air conditioning.
Not included in the cost of the 7-day long Grand Tour in Greece are Mystras, the gratuities – which are always optional – , nor the food and drinks which were not detailed above.
Please note that in some museums and places of worship you will be required to follow a certain dress code. In Greece, thisusually means you cannot enter these places with short pants or skirts, nor with sleeveless sweatshirts. Knees and shoulders must be completely covered at all times, both for men and women visiting these places. If you do not dress according to these requirements, you may be refused entry to the site of interest.
As for hotels, we made our best effort in getting high-class and best-rated hotels, according to the classification of the government of Greece. In smaller towns, where there is no first-class accommodation available, we used the best existing hotels.
