A tour to Penguin Sanctuary

"K2T Wisata"
Do you like penguins? Have you ever been interested in seeing them from close and in their natural habitat? If you are a big fan of nature and animals, eco-tourism in Chile might be your thing. We offer an excursion to Otway Sound Penguin Sanctuary that you can take as a day trip from Punta Arenas in order to spend some time with the penguins. Check availability, prices and BOOK YOUR PATAGONIA TOUR.
Otway Sound is, as its name describes it, a big inland sound in southern Chile in between the Riesco Island and the Brunswick Peninsula. Otway Sound is a natural waterway. It is located in a valley that was created as a result of the retreat of a glacier many years ago. The FitzRoy Channel connects it to Skyring Sound. Although Otway Sound is situated east from the Andes, a narrow passage connects it also, through the Strait of Magellan, with the Pacific Ocean.
Situated in the coast of the Otway Sound, a large colony of Magellan Penguins attracts many tourists and nature-lovers. Scientifically known as the Spheniscus magellanicus this South American species of penguins can be found mostly in Chile, Argentina and the Falkland Islands, and sometimes even in parts of Brazil. The Galápagos Penguin, Humboldt Penguin and African Penguin are its nearest relatives.
Our tour to Otway Sound will take you from Punta Arenas 65 kilometers up north. Once we arrive, we will walk about 2 kilometers to reach the Penguin Sanctuary’s nesting site. From there, we will be able to see the Magellan Penguins in their natural habitat, courting and caring for their young ones.
Although the tour to Otway Sound and the excursion to the Penguin Sanctuary take place year round, you should bear in mind penguins come to nest in this place every year, but only between November and March, so those are the best times to take a trip to the Penguin Sanctuary.

There are two daily tours held, a morning one departing 8am and an afternoon one departing 4pm. The tour takes 3.5 hours. We offer hotel pick-up and drop-off in some cases, ask if you are interested. All transportation fees, the guide and the admission fees are included in the cost of the tour. BOOK YOUR PATAGONIA TOUR.

Bali Green School

Jewelry maker John Hardy’s wife dragged him to a movie he didn’t want to see: An Inconvenient Truth, the film documenting Al Gore’s campaign against global warming. “It ruined my life,” says Hardy.
“I have four kids. Even if part of what Mr. Gore says is true, they’re not going to have the life that I had.” (See Green Prophet on Al Gore’s campaign here.) ” I decided at that time that I would spend the rest of my life doing what I could do improve their possibilities.”
Hardy and his wife, Cynthia are North American ex-pats who met, married, and raised their family on Bali. When they retired, they decided to give back to the community. They built an eco-school where children from kindergarten age through high school learn how to live in sustainability with the environment and each other. (We reported on a Middle-Eastern eco-school here).

Mosque in Turkey

Another mosque has taken up the battle against climate change and gone Eco- this time in Turkey
When a nuclear plant was proposed for the Turkish village of Buyukeceli, the residents decided to demonstrate their resistance not through protest and petitions but by highlighting the viability of renewable energy. Using the support of Greenpeace, they decided to show the power of solar energy and installed photovoltaic panels on the local mosque.
Whilst this may sound like a new and novel concept, back in July Green Prophet revealed plans for Europe’s first completely eco-friendly Mosque in the English city of Cambridge. … [visit site to read more]~

Cairo’s Climate Art

"K2T Wisata"
climate-art-egypt-solar-350Egyptians joined the 350 campaign to create art and demand bold climate action
In the Egyptian desert landscape of Wadi Natrun, 200 students and activists worked in the blistering heat to send a message to world leaders heading to Cancan for the latest climate conference. Placing large black strips on the ground and using florescent jackets, the image of a scarab holding a sun with ’350′ inside slowly emerged and could even be seen from space. The enormous scarab was a call for leaders to agree to a fair and effective climate deal and also symbolized the potential of solar power as a renewable resource to power Egypt’s future.
The Cairo event was designed and organised by the local artist Sarah Rifaat and was one of 12 events around the world by the 350 campaign. Rifaat told the BBC that it was “important that Egypt joined this global call” to tackle climate change.

Are Superfoods For Real

"K2T Wisata"
image-broccoliMaca, goji … what? Miriam shows how to buy local superfoods without the cost and fancy wasteful  packaging.
Colorful, flavorful, wonderful, natural products  crammed with every natural antioxidant, mineral, micro-nutrient, essential fatty acid and protein you can think of. And I can get them for you, too – wholesale.
What? These aren’t superfoods? You’re looking for  capsules or powders in bottles bearing attractive “green” logos. But all you see on the table are humble… vegetables. Um, we’ve had a misunderstanding, it seems.
True, these are slow foods (read about a slow food chef here) – not the instant commercial products known as “superfoods.” What’s that again? If it’s going to be fresh produce, at least I could have shown you some maca root, some goji berries? (See the market where I’m buying fresh produce these days.)… [visit site to read more]~
